First stop of the day is to a factory that produces extra virgin olive oil, Gargiulo. From here the views over Sorrento are amazing and we can enjoy a walk through the olive groves and amongst the orange and lemon trees.
Before tasting this fine oil on freshly baked bread, witness a step by step explanation of how the olive on the tree transforms to this extra virgin oil in the bottle.
On leaving the olive oil factory we head to a point literally on the top of the mountain; a fabulous photo opportunity whilst looking down on both the bay of Naples and the bay of Salerno, famous for its Amalfi Drive.
A visit to the cellar, a full demonstration and some tasting is next today as we take you to a local winery where you can sample up to five different wines. Starting as a hobby, generations of this family now supply many hotels and restaurants in the area having developed it into a successful business.
On we go to see the family who have over 50 years experience making mozzarella at the cheese farm. After a tour of the farm you can see a demonstration of how the mozzarella is made, from milk to cheese, and then you get to try it with your lunch.
Relax with a light lunch, included in the price of your tour, where you can enjoy a starter of local vegetables that are in season and salami; freshly made pasta is next on the menu along with, of course, the mozzarella that you have just seen being produced. Local wine and soft drinks are served with lunch and no meal is complete without a Limoncello, a local lemon liqueur that helps digest your food.
Having visited its surroundings we now make our way to the centre of Sorrento for the famous Gelato. Although most people think Gelato is ice cream, it is a little different as it is not so 'frozen' and therefore has much more taste.
The saying goes - 'No visit to Italy is the same without Gelato' and your visit is no exception!
Mario will share his secrets (that have been passed down from generations) creating fresh Gelato with you and of course tasting it as you go along.
What a great way to end this day of tasty discoveries.
