The cupola of the Duomo of Florence built by Brunelleschi in the 1400’s is a work of such mathematical and engineering genius that modern architects have not been able to recreate it. Florence is home to some of the world’s top museums including the Accademia with Michelangelo’s David and the Uffizi Gallery. If museums aren’t your thing, then why not enjoy the works of art and architecture on display in Florence’s piazzas, streets, and bridges? The historic city centre of Florence is flat and small making it the perfect place to enjoy on foot. You will be dazzled as you head across the Ponte Vecchio bridge full of historic gold stores, and then amazed by the Piazza della Signoria with the replica David statue and Loggia dei Lanzi statues, and finally awestruck by the famous golden doors of the Santa Maria del Fiore Baptistry and Giotto’s bell tower.

Florence also happens to be a foodie paradise, with fantastic small restaurants and gelateria shops to choose from and the wonderful San Lorenzo market, a bustling food market on the ground floor and tons of restaurants and even a cooking school on the upper floor. Make your tummy happy wandering the stalls and sampling prosciutto, pecorino, balsamic vinegar, extra virgin olive oil and more, and then enjoy a casual lunch before continuing your sightseeing in Florence.

On your way back from Florence, we can provide a stop in Pisa to see the Leaning Tower and Piazza dei Miracoli or Miracle Square an architectural complex owned by the Catholic church featuring the main Pisa cathedral, baptistery, and monumental cemetery as well. During this shore excursion, there is literally something that will make every type of traveller happy!

Full day Bolgheri Super Tuscan wine tour

Wine lovers and those curious about food and wine will be happy to find out that Livorno Port is less than a one-hour drive from the Super Tuscan wine region in the countryside of Bolgheri and Castagneto Carducci on the Tuscan coast. Enjoy views of the endless beaches and canopy pine forests as your private English-speaking driver with air-conditioned vehicle takes you south along the highway that follows the coast and the shimmering Mediterranean Sea. You will quickly reach the village of Bolgheri and its surrounding countryside lined with lush green vineyards. This is a great, short day allowing you to experience Tuscany. We recommend budgeting for about 5 hours for this experience if possible.
